SCS SB 988 -- COMMERCIAL ZONE

SPONSOR:  Caskey (Hartzler)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 19 to 0.

This substitute extends the Kansas City commercial zone to
include a portion of the City of Harrisonville.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that heavy commercial vehicle will be
allowed to travel farther out of the Kansas City area on roads
designed for such weight, keeping them off black top roads not
structured for heavy vehicles.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Caskey.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
